How did Pipkin Detective Agency get started?
Pipkin Detective Agency traces its roots back more than a century.
The agency's history began in 1917 when Rocky Pipkin's great-uncle, Charley Wilton Pipkin, left the Omaha Police Department and founded the Pipkin National Detective Agency.
Over time, Charley handled cases in Denver, Las Vegas and eventually California.
How did Pipkin Detective Agency continue through the generations?
Following Charley's death, the agency became inactive during the 1960s.
Rocky's father later worked to revive the business before his passing.
In 1987, Rocky Pipkin officially took ownership alongside co-founder La Verne Raymond "Pappy" Hughes, a former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant and California Highway Patrol accident reconstruction expert.
What is the future of Pipkin Detective Agency?
Although Pipkin says he has no immediate plans to expand, he expects a future "changing of the guard" as he moves closer to retirement.
Even so, he believes the depth of his investigative team positions the agency well for the future.
"That's probably a few years away," Pipkin said about retirement. "I still enjoy it. I mean it's something that I like every day. Every morning I get up."
